I think that the GFDL is not a bad license. But it has the same problem that the CC-BY used to have. We can't upload GFDL docs at OOo. I think that having the ability to upload files to the OOo website is desirable. The GFDL is easier to use than the PDL, but the CC-BY is easier yet. CC-BY is very flexible. But OOo doesn't use the GFDL anywhere, and it's not one of the "allowed" licenses. In contrast, the CC-BY is allowed. Sidenote: OOo is not GPL. It is LGPL/SISSL.
