I generally agree with this suggestion. The main reason I've avoided doing
anything about it is that the number of chapters and their order in most
of
the books has been a moving target. When that settles down (say, when we
actually put together a book), then giving chapters a number is probably
a
very good move. A variation could be to simply say "this document is part
of the XXX Guide" without a number.

That reminds me of two other items that I need to add to the proposed new
template, probably somewhere on the Overview/Copyright page:
* Date of issue (day, month, year)
* Version(s) of OOo to which this chapter applies, or which were used when
writing it

I am new here but I like to have some comments too on the chapter template,
especially
if it is going to change anyway.

I would like to have a small change in the table template. Currently the rows
are alternating between "No Fill" and "Gray10%" as cell background color.
The text in the table template says ""White" and "Gray10%" so it is
inconsistent
with actual settings. "White" and "No Fill" may look the same on most (Windows)
systems but for those who had changed the system color "Window" it is not
White anymore (like for me).

Personally I would prefer "White", otherwise it looks like holes in the tables.
I am currently working with the Calc User Guide App C Functions, and it
is quite a few table rows in there. :-)

The idea with alternating colors is a good idea. I think it improves the
readability.
:-)

Best Regards
Magnus
