Please let us know you are looking it over.
I was wondering about this portion of the current outline:
5. PRINTING
Owner: Linda Worthington
Data Set Needed? No
- Details, order, and scale
- Print range (what to include)
- Appearance
- Pages Breaks (not covered in this chapter)
- Headers and Footers (not covered in this chapter)
Where will the "Pages Breaks" and "Headers and Footers" be discussed.
Since a digital (onscreen) spreadsheet doesn't really need these, they
definitely are Printing topics. That goes for Margins and many of the
options on the "Page" dialog.
This file has already been pre-published for V2.
Linda,
I guess I'm not clear on this...does "pre-published" mean it is beyond
revision? If it is (which I find odd) where should these topics be
addressed? I believe they are important...but I can't think of a better
place than in the "Printing" chapter.
BTW, what do you think of the outline...any suggestions?
No the file isn't beyond revsion but do we really need this in the
printing section of Calc? I think it is better suited to be in the
Getting Started Guide or Writer guide so that is why I did not add
them to the Calc chapter.
Linda, et all...
The subject of page breaks, headers and footers, etc is different in
Calc than in Writer. Whereas text documents are generally considered
"print" documents (hence the term WYSIWYG), spreadsheets are not. They
can exist and function completely as a digital spreadsheet without ever
being paginated or otherwise setup for printing. However, using a
spreadsheet for invoices, estimates of work to be performed or other
office documents (like time sheets) necessitates printing.
Inserting page breaks within a spreadsheet is different then same task
within a text document. There are some folks who believe each sheet is a
different page and are stunned when they print...
Besides, OOo v2 has enhanced the headers and footer capability in Calc,
so it would seem to be a major point to mention. Maybe a separate
chapter on "Page" formatting would work, but I still opt for putting it
in the Printing chapter.
I will look over the outline in just a bit. I believe there is
another section of Calc that I am migrating, Charts and Graphs I
think. :-)
Thanks
Linda
I know about printing and all it encompasses. Right or wrong I decided
to leave it out of the document I wrote. If we need to add it I will
but I don't need it explained to me.
I will make note of what needs to be added and put that on my task list.
Thanks
Linda
