Hello, Alright, we've published several chapters lately, and most of the current chapters are in their last leg of review.
So it's time to talk about getting new chapters done :-) The ideal is that the chapter writers be people who have reviewing experience (e.g. Rick, Iain, Peter, Jeff, Linda, Agnes, Janet :) However, total newbies are still welcome. Just be aware that maintaining a chapter may be difficult if you haven't reviewed before. But we'll help you. Jean declares the following chapters to be top priority: ** Printing Documents (Writer Guide) ** No existing V1 doc. Jean has some material to get things started, and I do too (somewhere). The chapter could repeat a bit from "Introducing Writer. But new stuff needs to be written, like printing envelopes. ** Working with Templates (Writer Guide) ** There is a V1 doc you can use to start with: http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide1/writerguide/working_with_templates.sxw It was written by Catherine Waterman and Paul Miller. Both have agreed to the new copyright. ** Working with Forms (Writer Guide) ** This is a totally new chapter. We have nothing here. Not even an outline. ** Working with Graphics (Writer Guide) ** This one is trickier, because it involves using a V1 doc for which only some of the authors have given permission. So it's necessary to track down their contributions and replace them by original content. I will take this one. Do we have any volunteers to take on some of the others? Rick, you've shown endurance in the face of adversity. How about it? If you can get "What is OOo?" published, you can do anything. :-) Iain, you said your chapter has been reviewed a lot. And it's in my to-do list. So maybe you want to grab one? Peter, what's your status? Agnes, you've never maintained a chapter. Would you like to try one? I'll help you. Maybe you want to try "Printing Documents"? Janet, how would you like to become an author? :-) Cheers, -- Daniel Carrera | I don't want it perfect, Join OOoAuthors today! | I want it Tuesday. http://oooauthors.org |
