As long as every co-author agrees (both of you) you can pick any license you want. This is why it took us so long to start moving to the new license. We had many authors and had to get an agreement from each and every one. In your case it's a lot easier, because it's just the two of you. So you need to talk to the other co-author and decide if you are happy with the new license the English guide is using. If you /don't/ like the license, it's not the end of the world. It's still possible to make an English install guide. It just wouldn't be part of the rest of the English user guide. It'd be a separate project. So it's up to you.
