I had the following, poorly worded, paragraph in my original Math Guide after explaining how to use the autotext entry (I haven't checked more recent versions to see what they have):
The numbering is done using the field type �Number range� and the variable Text. So to have more control over numbering equations a user could create their own styles and or autotext entry and use a Number Range field for the numbering.

Something like that could be good to put in the Math chapter, but instead of going into the details on how to do it, the reader should be referred to the chapter on Fields. I've done that sort of thing in several other chapters, where a full discussion of whatever the topic is would be out of place at that point, but a brief mention (that you can do "x") and a reference on where to learn how to do "x" provides valuable extra info to the reader. I usually put such things in tips.
