When I want to apply numbering with the OOo numbering style, the numbers keep increasing through the document, rather than going back to 1 for each set of numbers.
Normally I would link the numbering style into a paragraph style and select "Restart at this paragraph" on the Numbering tab of the paragraph style. I don't want to change your styles and I can't see a paragraph style that has this set up already, that I could select for the numbering.
What's the best thing to do?
I just click the "Restart Numbering" button on the Bullets & Numbering toolbar for the first item in a list. That may not be the best way to do it, but works and I'm used to it.
I personally don't like to use a separate style for the first item in a numbered list, because I often change my lists so the first item is no longer first, and then I have to change the styles. More disciplined writers may not have this problem. :-)
