Alan,
If you're game, I really, really need help with two chapters of the Writer Guide: "Working with Styles" and "Styles Reference". BTW, both chapters should be read in conjunction with "Introduction to Styles", so you need to be familiar with that chapter, too. It's been published and is here: http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide2/writer/draft_pub/IntroStyles.sxw/file_view

I got to a certain point with them and then got side-tracked with more urgent work and haven't got back to them after Iain Roberts' and Peter Kupfer's reviews.

"Styles Reference" is, I think, close to being done, but there are some blanks to be filled in, and it needs to be migrated to the new template. If you would do that, and review it at the same time, that would be great. It's here. Please put it into Feedback in the the User Guide 2 - Current folder when you're done.

"Working with Styles" still needs to have a lot of blanks filled in and bits rewritten. Also, I confess that I've reached a bit of a block on what to include (or leave out), so having another person get involved would be a real asset.

Here are some notes on what I think is still needed in "Working with Styles".

**Working with Styles

(1) The first part of the chapter is in good shape, but from conditional styles on, it needs a lot of work.

(2) I'm having a real problem wrapping my mind around conditional paragraph styles. Peter Kupfer and I have been working on them. We both understand how to make them work; that's not a problem. The problem is giving some good idea of *why* one would want to use them and in what circumstances they might be more useful than having separate styles.

(3) The section on Frame Styles need to discuss frame *styles*. There's a paragraph or two on "inserting frames" that's irrelevant, but not much on styles.

(4) The stuff that's in the sections on list (numbering) styles and outline numbering isn't bad, but I think it's not sufficient. Again, I think more is needed on when and why to use them, what the differences are, etc. Also, somewhere we need to cover the interactions between list styles and the icons on the Bullets and Numbering toolbar.

(5) Some figures need labelling or re-labelling if the labels don't look good.
