Hi Linda,
I get the same error when I try to upload as an ooo document and not a file. Make sure that you go to Add New Item > File then browse to the file on your hard drive and click save. I just uploaded a file to ensure this works. You also must provide a name or title for the document when saving the file.
If you still cannot upload then please let me know. :-)
I always select file and it does this and I title it too :-(
