We now have a brand new, ultra-cool front page:

It's been an arduous process, but we made it. We managed the impossible
and got everyone to agree on something :-) The new front page is up
right now.
This is what will or should happen over the next week:
1) Marko will figure out how to internatialize the footer "the Plone
way" which is much more reliable than my Javascript hack.
2) Each language team who hasn't made a welcoming page for their
language, should do so now. AFAICT only English and German have worked
on one.
3) Linda will be managing out SEO and making sure it's correctly set up.
Linda explains that this is something that should be done with care
because if you do it wrong you can get banned from search engines. For
example, say you put the word "Draw" under keywords. The spider doesn't
see that word in the body text, so it doesn't index it. Do this several
times and the spider will conclude that you're trying to unfairly boost
your ratings and will penalize you. So you have to find a delicate
balance between keywords and content. So I think it's safer to leave
this to Linda.
Okay, it's 6 AM now. I think it's time I finally go to bed :-)
