Late yesterday (my time) I uploaded yet another version of the
Getting Started book. No content had changed from the one a few
hours before, but this one has the following differences:
* It was generated by OOo1.9.118 using .ODM and .ODT files, not
the .SXG and .SXW files as before.
* The bookmarks are now there and working.
(They are inserted by OOo1.9.118 using the .SXG and .SXW files as
well.)
* The file size has decreased to 5.8MB.
(When I created a PDF from the .SXG and .SXW files using
OOo1.9.118, the file size was 5.9MB... so it's not a great
reduction using the .ODT files. However, the same file produced
by OOo1.1.4 was around 7MB. All of this interests me because
several beta releases ago, OOo1.9.X was producing much larger
PDFs than 1.1.4 produced... so something's changed, very much for
the better.)
For those interested in odd technical stuff:
1) I have to do some manual tweaking to get the first item of the
first list in each chapter to be numbered 1 (instead of
continuing the numbering from the last list in the previous
chapter). I reported this bug a week or two ago, and it has been
confirmed when using a custom list style, as we are. If you want

2) When I used OOo1.1.4 to create a PDF from the master doc, some
of the illustrations went missing. These were a subset of the
embedded "math objects"; one was in Chapter 1 and the others were
in the chapter on Math Objects. OOo1.9.118 did not lose any of these.
I am so excited about getting this book so close to final
publication! :-)
