As OOo can be compiled with GCJ/GCC 4.x this is not necessarily true

Of course, for the foreseeable future all builds coming from Sun will
need JRE but expect the ones coming from 3-rd parties to not need it
(Fedora does not need JRE, AFAIK Ubuntu will also not need JRE in the
next version etc.)
I just had a chat with Rene Engelhard (debain package manager vor OOo)
and he confirms that you would still need a JRE for the runtime
features. GCJ/GCC 4.x is only helpfull for compile time at the moment.
So .. Jean's initial statement is still valid (no matter if you are
using Sun provided builds or not). At least the Unbuntu packages are
99.9% identical to those built by Rene.
On my system, I don't have *any* JRE but wizards and databases are
working, see this: http://ooo.nicubunu.ro/ooojava.png (this is using Fedora)
