The final home will be <http://user-faq.openoffice.org>,
which will probably move in the next couple weeks.

Cool beans. Thanks tons for the feedback!

Let's hold off on updating that, and see where we can go Editing FAQs...
with User-FAQ.

ok.

From what I understand, everything on Doc is on
OOoAuthors-FAQ. If not

we should make sure everything is updated.

ok. that is one for the to-do list.

BTW, how is the speed of the OOoAuthors site over dialup?

It seems to be ok enough. I haven't done time tests, but I
don't recall waiting for long periods of time either. Even
the page where we add folks to the members group is much
faster. That page used to take 1-2 minutes for me to
download, but now takes maybe 15 seconds. I don't get up to
do other things during that task anymore. ;)

THANKS. I am glad to know that you are having fun with
the script. ;-)

You are very welcome! It /has/ been fun to play with. I have
hoped that my play has not been an intrusion. The best way
for me to learn how things work is by doing. Seeing how
things work always answers my typically long lists of
questions... I figured it's likely is good to try from a
different machine too, just to expose any potential glitches.

I would like to have one FAQ base, like User-FAQ to go to
for FAQ items. This was the original reason User-FAQ was
created. It would be nice to have one location where FAQ
items can be stored and easily maintained by a team of
people. Which is why Plone was originally used.

Thank you so much for this response!! It helps so much I can
barely put it into words. :)

The download on the OOoAuthors site is fine, it does it's
job. The script I wrote was done because the format is a
little easier to navigate.

ok.

They should live on the N-L sites themselves. We
shouldn't have multiple languages displayed for our
users. It would confuse them potentially. We will
discuss this with the N-L sites and see what their course
of action will be as a whole.

I'm guessing that, to use the script for other FAQ sets,
only the URL near the end of your script need be changed, to
point to other sets of the FAQs at OOoAuthors? Ok, now I see
in another message that you will post notes on that. I will
wait for them to learn more.

I still have not played with the UTF thing... there may be
some extra steps needed there, especially when other than
English character sets are used in the FAQs. There is an
issue on that open, where I've been adding notes.

Thank you for the input, Scott. You have lifted huge weights
of "unknowns" from my shoulders. Thanx again!

:)
