Subject: [authors] PING : all translators/non-English speakers
Following a requirement I've had for some translation work to French and
German, I thought it might be worthwhile to look out for additional paid
translation work that I could subcontract to people on OOoAuthors.
What I need
===========
Please let me know if you meet all these criteria :
* You are native speaker of a language other than English
* You are interested in doing paid translation work (we're looking at
paying translators a rate of about 10 Euro cents per word in the original
text, but I haven't figured out yet whether that's the right level for the
market).
* You have demonstrable experience of translation (translation for
OOoAuthors or INGOTs would certainly count, for example).
* You have the time to turn round translations in a reasonable time frame.
What everyone gets out of it
============================
* My company, Axiom Tech, gets to offer translation services along with
our website/application development offerings. We also get more clients
interested in our services and hopefully a small revenue stream too. All
the software we develop is FLOSS, so any way we can get people interested
in Open Source over proprietary is good.
* You get some extra money & experience.
The current status
==================
I don't know if this is going to generate much work. It's one of those
things where I need to have some translators available and then I can go
to market. It could be that nothing much comes of it; but hopefully we
can get a few bits of work in and make it worth our while.
I would love for more people to be able to make a good living from FLOSS,
so the more, the better.
Iain.
