Unfortunately, there is no setting on the server to remove those
annoying requests (I am not an admin on this list, but on other OOo lists).
Another way is to tell new members to deactivate this function.
I think a good policy would be to state this in the guidelines
http://www.openoffice.org/ml_guidelines.html and when someone sent a
return receipt reply to him in a private message, explaining why this is
impolite and point to the guidelines.
Sorry, but I'm a little sensitive in such cases.... ;)
Lacking other options, is possible to set up your mail client to ignore
those requests, Mozilla Mail and Thunderbird have a very nice and
granular interface for this.
