I cannot comment on the callouts but while consistancy is nice I don't particularly want a set dictionary. When I spell-check, OOo flags "judgment" as an error althought the Canadian Oxford English Dictionary lists it as the alternative rather than the first choice.  No matter how we spell we are going to annoy some readers.  Color just looks wrong to me.

If we use our normal dictionaries and spellings we spread the annoyance around the world more fairly.  And, quite honestly I don't want to have to correct all of my "correct" typing to a spelling I don't normally use. This is particularly a point for a Canadian since we tend to use ize endings for verbs and our for works like behaviour. 

One of the very nice things about OOo is that it has a pretty good Canadian spell checker and I don't have to spend a lot of time customizing a UK or US dictonary which I have had to do with Word and AmiPro and ...

>From a user's point of view I don't think spelling is likely to introduce any serious misunderstandings whereas changing a convention such as  Format > Styles to  Format | Styles could be a serious problem.
