I signed on last week or so. Been lurking and still do not have a good
feel for the overall picture. I noted that you have apparently been
selling books which I assume would be duplicates of openoffice at some
point in time. But how up to date is it. Is there any url that can be
downloaded so that one may obtain an current awareness? Just having an
current copy on ones computer should be helpful. me thinks.

The printed copies are provided as a service to users who prefer a book instead of a PDF. The books are published by me through the Friends of OpenDocument Inc. The printed books were published in early November 2005 and I hope to get revised versions (all up to date, and indexed this time) published within the next 6 weeks.

PDFs of individual chapters, and PDFs of completed books, are available from the OOo Documentation Project (as well as from the OOoAuthors website), http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/index.html

The PDFs on the Docs website are the latest versions available, and in some cases they are more up to date than the chapters in the printed books. The PDFs of the full books sometimes lag a week or two behind the individual chapters, if I'm too busy to regenerate and upload the full books (or can't get access to a high-speed connection to upload them).

I have not attempted to keep a record of the dates of releases of the different files, but only because of lack of time and energy. Each PDF carries its date of publication on the copyright page, but that's certainly not as convenient as a list. I've now added this task to my to-do list, because it would be good to have such a list.

Regards, Jean
