Linda Worthington has just informed me that she is unable to continue
as maintainer of the Draw Guide.
So all the chapters in that book are in need of a maintainer. Please
note: If you want to take on one or more of them, you are not
obligated to take all of them.
What does being a maintainer involve? Generally it is making any
updates that are necessary after the chapter is published. In the
past, the person who wrote the chapter has usually remained as the
maintainer, but that is not required, and with all of these being
updated from pre-existing V1 chapters, the "writing" component is much
less than for brand-new chapters.
I'll continue working on producing first drafts of Draw Guide chapters
(updating from V1), if no one else comes forward to take them on. Each
of them will need to be reviewed by several people.
BTW, the hardest part of this work is to figure out what's missing...
esp. if new features or functions have been added to Draw. Many things
changed from V1 to V2, but those aren't that hard (just tedious) to
find and revise; it's the new stuff that tricks me.
Also, I like to include as many tips and hints as possible on how to
do real tasks, not just describe what the software can do. The way I
usually figure out what tasks to include is to read the forums and
users list etc and see what questions people are asking, then make
sure the book covers the answers to those questions somewhere in it.
Needless to say, I have not had time to do any of this research for
Draw! So if you're interested and want to do some research to find out
what people are asking, that would be a great help!

Hi Jean,
I'd really like to take the maintenance of all the chapters of the Draw
guide.
Right now, as the new maintainer of the Migration guide, I'm still
working on it, and I have some other little things to finish, but after
that, I'll be fully available for this task.
About the Migration guide, I have a little request: there is one chapter
I'm really "dealing" with, because I'm definitely not a specialist about
Calc at all.
It's the chapter "Differences in Use between Excel and Calc", and it
would make me so happy if someone else would take this one.
Thanks about this.
Greetings,
Agnes
