Welcome, Jim! It will be great to have another editor on the team, especially if you are willing to take on a whole book. You are welcome to do as much as you want or have time to do, including learning how to make a master document behave, when the time comes to put together a full book out of the separate chapters.
As you probably know, I am the lead editor in the English language section of OOoAuthors. This means I do most of the admin and coordination work and misc. other odds and ends as well as some actual editing when I have time. Janet Swisher is the other English-language editor, but as she has a day job, she doesn't get as involved in day-to-day activities.
