Hi all,

I finished a Perl script to make it easier to install OOo in Ubuntu (or any Debian system with 'sudo'). It doesn't do "everything" but that's because I'm hesitant to mess with the user's system much. You give it the tar.gz file you downloaded and it produces a directory called 'openoffice.org2.0' with the software ready to run. It is up to the user to move that directory somewhere (e.g. /opt) and create menu shortcuts or icons for it.

It's here: http://daniel.carrera.name/dani/ooo_on_ubuntu

To run it:

1. Make the file executable (chmod +x ooo_on_ubuntu)
2. On a terminal:

./ooo_on_ubuntu OOo_2.0.2_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE.tar.gz

Replace the last bit with the appropriate file name.

Cheers,
Daniel.
