I wrote a GUI installer for OOo on Linux.

You still need to download the OOo tar.gz file. Run the script and it'll
ask you for the OOo tar.gz.
I've tested it on Ubuntu only. I don't know how it'll fare on other
distributions. In particular, it uses "zenity" and I have no idea how
popular that program is but without "zenity" this installer is useless.
Sigrid is going to test it on Mandriva :)
The script should be pretty safe to run, but I call it ultra-alpha and
make no promises.
