Hi,

I am just busy translating another Draw-chapter (Editing objects Part 1) and found a description which is, as I suppose, at least unclear, but probably just incorrect.
On the last page of this document there is:
------------
The Select button on the Drawing Toolbar functions as a switch. It works as follows. If you have two points linked together by a straight line (you do not need to have a curve between the points) and you insert a new point between them that is set at an angle to the initial straight line (and hence the two endpoints), then: If the Select button is active, you will have a drawing similar to that illustrated in ➊. If the Select button is not active, and you move the point you have just inserted to bring it back close to its initial position in the straight line, you will have a drawing similar to that illustrated in ➋.
-------------
As far as I can see, the "Select button" is only a switch with respect to objects being selected or not. If you are in the point mode of an object, this will always be selected, there is no chance to "switch" the select button. The only thing that happens when you click on the select button, is the "insert point" button in the point edit menu being reset to "move point". This does not function vice versa and I think that it is rather coincidental.

Also the descirption "you insert a new point between them that is set at an angle to the initial straight line (and hence the two endpoints)" is quite unclear. You cannot set a new point at an angle, you always have to find exactly the line in order to set the new point. THEN you can move the mouse and bring the new point to an angle. And THEN it is a difference whether you are in "move point" or "insert point" modus. You can only insert and move a new point in the "insert point" mode (what's in a name ;) ) otherwise you move the whole line.

That's the way it goes with me, OOo 2.02, Windows XP. Are there differences with other systems?

Cheers,
Wolfgang
