Hi all,
Some great news. The Ubuntu team loves the Authors guides and the
Getting Started guide has just been uploaded to Ubuntu universe.
("universe" is the name if the repository of community-provided free
software packages for Ubuntu).Go to this page: http://revu.tauware.de/index.py Search for 'starter-guide'. You'll see a heart next to the package. That means "approved". The GS guide will be part of the Ubuntu Edgy distribution, due out in October. Ubuntu users will be able to download it from apt-get or Synaptic. In addition to the recognition, this gives the guide more exposure. Anyone who searches for "OpenOffice.org" on Synaptic will see the Authors GS guide. Congratulations everyone! It's great to see recognition for one's work. The guide is installed in /usr/share/doc/openoffice.org-starter-guide Now that we've gone through the process of getting one guide uploaded, getting the other guides accepted will be easier. I have just uploaded a package for the Writer Guide: http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?upid=2809 I'll let you know when that is approved.
