we (the authors of StarOffice and OpenOffice.org Help) would like to give more links from the (F1) Help to the documentation on documentation.openoffice.org. May be to other Web sites, too.

However, there are possible problematic areas:
- we really don't want to get broken links (addresses should stay unchanged over several years, including file names, or there must always be a valid redirection) - we can only give a link to one document in one language; there is no automatic language context switching as for many Web sites, and most documents are available only in one language anyhow.

What do you think?

Last year Scott Carr and I worked out a file naming system for OOoAuthors books and chapters, and I do not expect any changes in the names for existing books and chapters until we completely reorganise the books -- which I do not think will happen in the next two years or longer (no one to do the work, and it would be a big job). We will of course be adding new chapters and books as we finish them, using the same naming system.

The addresses of our .pdf documents on the Documentation Project's website should be stable, and the addresses of both .odt and .pdf files on the OOoAuthors website should be stable too.

Are you wanting to link to specific documents from the Help? For example, from the mail merge part of the Help to the Writer Guide chapter on using mail merge? If you had at least some links to the page at Docs that lists all of the chapters and books from OOoAuthors, then I could add links from there to translations (or similar docs) in other languages.

BTW, I will not be at OOoCon this year or I would come to the session on Help and docs being held there.
