I've made a change to the security permissions on the site such that
it should not be necessary to take this drastic a step. Now, content
in members' folders can only be viewed by users in the Author group (and the member who created it). This should foil the spammers' schemes to use the oooauthors site for redirects to other sites. The
spam content can now be cleaned up at leisure.
It looks like I went a little too far, and members cannot, in fact,
see their own folders. I will fix that today.

could you please tell us, what the result of this is? I haven't seen a
second mail from you, answering your last note on this topic. It might be, that I've missed something, so can you please update me. Thanks a lot.

I apologize for not following this up. Yes, I did make the change to allow members to see their own folders.

I just took a look at Frank's member folder (frankwk), and it had different permissions from the default for a member. I did not make that change, so I don't know why it was different. I have now changed it to be like the other member folders.

Are other members having problems accessing *their own* member folders? (I want to make sure that much is working first, then worry about giving access to other users' folders.)

The longer term solution to our recent technical problems will be to upgrade our server software. I will be spending time this Sunday learning more about what needs to be done to make that happen.
