I would also recommend you to read Timo's "Leitfaden fuer Uebersetzungen", which you will find here: http://oooauthors.org/de/Vorlagen/Uebersetzung_OOo_Leitfaden_komplett.sxw. Another recommendation, which we always give our new authors, is to proofread first to become acquainted with our style ... ;) You can also start to translate an English document if you like, or write your own document to a theme, which is not covered by the English/translated documents by now ...
