Thanks to a post from GRS to the OOo Docs list, here is this
week's tip. (I'll also put it on our website and/or our forum.)
Because we're using OOo on different operating systems when
producing screenshots, for consistency we should:
1. Use only the *default* OOo icon set, so that all screenshots
have the same icon set in them. In Tools > Options >
OpenOffice.org > View, look under User Interface > Icon size and
style, choose the icon size wanted and "Default". Note that
"Automatic" uses the icon set that matches the operating system's
icons, where this exists (eg on Linux distributions).
2. In Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > General, go to Use
Open/Save dialogs and select "Use OpenOffice dialogs". If you're
using Windows, you will see a conspicuous difference between
these dialogs and the standard Windows ones; if you're on Linux,
you probably won't notice much if any difference.
Note: A few screenshots (not many) in existing chapters of our
books need to be replaced with shots of the OOo dialogs. I plan
to do this when updating those chapters for some other reason; if
you're updating a chapter, please update them as well.
Cheers, Jean
Back to colour schemes again, Jean???
