We are considering to create a mailing list for the Dutch speaking Authors-community, so we will not have to bother you with how many chapters we have already translated ;-) . (I hope you did not mind too much) Of course we will stay tuned with the English mailinglist to keep track of what is happening. But before we decide to do so, can somebody give some guidelines how we have to do and how much time it takes to maintain such a mailinglist. I also suppose such a list needs to be moderated and how does that go?

AFAIK, the Authors mailing list (which is hosted at OOo) is not moderated. I am not sure who set it up for us (CP Hennessy, I think). If anyone who is not a member of the list posts to the list, the post is discarded. This means, of course, that if someone posts from a different email address, that post does not go to the list either.

BTW, we can set up mailing lists at the OOoAuthors domain if you (or any other language group) want one here. I can do that for you, and I can make you (or anyone else) the owner and/or moderator for the list. I do not remember what settings are possible to minimise the work involved in moderation, but I can find out for you. From my experience at other organisations, I know that with the right settings, the amount of work is very small... as long as you are happy to just throw away posts from non-members without checking to see if they should be accepted.
