The latest (Feb 3) version of the master docs chapter in the Writer Guide contains the following paragraph concerning subdocuments:

"If you already have some of the chapters written, the files are probably not based on the template you just created for this project. You will need to change the template attached to the existing files. The only way to do this is:"

(a) Why will the template need be changed, as per the second sentence? Shouldn't that pertain to the copy of the template and not the template per se?

(b) The third sentence states that there is only one way to go from a preexisting subdoc to one that'll work OK with the master doc with a different template. Being an absolute ("only one way"), all one needs is to come up with another different from the one put forth and it's then proven to be inaccurate.

Is it possible to import the styles from the new template (or another subdoc with the styles already imported from the new template) via the Stylist, where the importation is set up to overwrite the previous styles? Granted, if this works OK, there will probably be some styles in the new sub doc that won't have any pedigree from the template. But if those particular "extra" styles were avoided (not utilized), or better yet deleted, would this work? If so, this would mean that the current text isn't entirely correct.

So, what would actually happen?
