I've uploaded my new How-To to User How-Tos & Tutorials.

This is my documentation of a process I discovered by trial and error. It
definitely needs editing and feedback. I'm not even sure I discovered the best
ways to do things, but they worked for me. I'm definitely not an extensions
expert, so a set of knowledgeable eyes would be useful for making sure my
explanations and terminology are correct, and to confirm that I did (or didn't)
find the best way to overcome my annoyance at too many extensions adding
themselves to the menu bar.

>From the Overview:

Extensions add useful functionality to OpenOffice.org. However, many extensions
add their own menu to the OpenOffice.org interface. These menus cannot be
edited and, if you install more than a couple extensions, clutter the interface.

Also, some extensions contain multiple features, usually as macros. Often, you
only use a subset of these features, maybe a macro or two, but the extension
installs with an uneditable menu containing all of the macros.

This How-To explains how to modify an extension that creates an unwanted menu
on the OpenOffice.org menu bar so it installs without creating that menu. The
How-To also explains how to add the features you use to the menu of your
choice.
