interested in writing this, how do I get started?

Welcome, Matthew!

How to get started: first, you need Author privileges. If your username at OOoAuthors is MHarrison, then you should now have those privileges (I added them a few minutes ago for that username). You will need to log off the site and log back on for the change to be effective.

Next, look on the first page of the English part of the website for links to our style guide, writers' guide, and other info for writers, and look at a few existing chapters for an idea of our writing and organisational style. Chapter 15, "Working with Forms" in the Writer Guide, would be a good one.

Your material could become a chapter in one of the books, or it could be a stand-alone how-to or tutorial. The final form of publication doesn't matter a lot at this stage, as that can be changed later on.

And don't be too concerned about your writing or the quality of your supporting graphics, because the reviewers and editors can tidy up the rough edges if necessary. Some of our writers are very good on their own, but most of the chapters are group efforts.

The website also explains how to upload files and various other "housekeeping" things, but if you have any problems, let us know.
