Jean,

I think your assessment of what the chapter needs is spot on.

Right now is definitely not the right time for me to volunteer to take on more.
I'm working long hours for the next little while to meet work deadlines.

Maybe in two or three months, when things have settled down a bit, I can do
more, but right now I shouldn't commit to anything beyond what's already
burying me.

The ability to customize is one of my favorite things about OOo, and I'd like
to see it explained better. I wish I could be the person to do it, but right
now I just can't.

Scott, I apologise for taking so long to get around to reviewing
your comments on Ch4 of GS: Menus and Toolbars.

I agree with all you said. Here is what I think this chapter needs:
1) A major rewrite, and possibly a new title.
2) Additional info on the Navigator.
3) Move the info on customizing menus & toolbars to a new chapter
or appendix that would also collect the scattered bits on
customizing from Ch17 & AppA & anywhere else it might be lurking.
What's currently in this chapter is both too advanced for real
beginners and too simplistic: it doesn't include enough info on
how to actually do the things one can do.
4) After rewriting, it needs new screenshots, esp. the labelled
ones. Peter H-B will do that if whoever rewrites the chapter
doesn't want to.

I have accepted some of Scott's edits and added my comments (more
detail than what I've said above) to his notes. The latest
iteration of this file is here:

Scott, if you have the time to rewrite this chapter, that would
be really great. If not, do I hear another volunteer? I am
nominally the maintainer, but only because I took it over when
the previous maintainer left. I will most definitely not have the
time to do anything about it for several more weeks if not longer
and would prefer to not have to -- I want to work on the Base Guide!
