I'm not sure what's causing the bad references, but I've seen it
before in various chapters over several OOo versions. It seems to be
related in some way with "upgrading" a chapter from one version of
OOo (2.x) to another (3.0 beta), but it doesn't happen to all of
them. Usually, deleting the bad refs and re-inserting them fixes the
problem (they open okay after saving), but not always.
Jean and friends,
Do you have a reproducible case of this? Ideally, some doc of which
you could say, "The xrefs in this doc worked under v2.x, but when I
opened [or saved, or whatever] under v.next, the ref at so-and-so is
busted."
Attached: old (good under old version) doc, New doc (if save breaks
things).
Maybe they won't fix it until v.18, but if we don't complain
officially, they'll *never* fix it.
On a related subject, "outline numbering breaks on style update", I
have a nice, reproducible case, and will file a bug rep if it's still
busted in v.3. (I'd check that myself, but I run dial-up, and it's a
six-hour download . . .)

Has this been verified with the m28 development build? I do expect
problems if moving a document generated from m26 and then read in m28.
But, does this exist with a document created in m28 and then moved
forward with m28?
