Try 1: attachment of wiki.bas file, herewith.

Worked perfectly! :-)

* Save As in Writer, to "Encoded Text (*.txt)", seems to work just fine; even better, copy-and-paste, directly from Writer, seems to produce understandable files, too.

* 3) (key part) in the File type (bottom) box, select "Text Encoded (*.txt)". It's down a ways in the list, just below RTF and Text. Click Open.

I save and open these files as ordinary text, not encoded, and everything seems to work fine (so far!). I don't understand why Text Encoded is needed, or what advantage it gives.

(As a one-time resident of Sunnyvale, CA, I am an official, card-carrying geek from Silicon Valley. /Ad astra, per aspera!/)

When I was a hippy chick in San Francisco, around 1973 or so, one of my boyfriends was building a microcomputer from a kit. I learned how to solder components, though I never built a full kit myself. After I moved to Australia in 1974, I eventually ended up writing software documentation, starting in the early 80's. My main claim to geekdom in the 80's was having an email address, when these were unusual.
