The subroutine to restore the "update from template" feature is another
matter. I will test that with Calc and Impress, and it should work (X =
fingers crossed). Better than nothing.
Tested Calc, Impress, and Draw, with downloaded templates.
* Both Calc and Impress appear to work identically to Writer, wrt.
automatic updating from a changed template. The subroutine works for
them, too.
* Draw, at least for me, is behaving strangely. The template name is
listed on the File > Properties tab, and the name appears on the status
bar (in [sloppy] URL fashion, with escaped characters, "%20"). But, I
can't get Draw to suggest an automatic update, with or without the
subroutine. Someone who has actually used Draw before might have more
luck changing the template. (In the template, I changed a font in the
"Title" style, and then added a text box right in the main area, but no
auto-update question came up when opening the dependent Draw doc.) So
far, I would have to conclude that Draw doesn't do automatic updates.
In the process of preparation, I downloaded the for-review chapter on
Calc templates, and found a few typos, plus a small problem with the
chapter template. Upload coming. I a s s | u | m e ;-) you will search
for "Chapter" and "Appendix", and insert the links, later.
Uploaded to "Calc 3.x > Feedback".
