The Quickstarter crashed for me when attempting to open an existing document, as it did for you. After the crash, OOo's recovery process successfully loaded the document I was attempting to open. Creating a new file using the QS seemed to work fine. Hmmm... the QS has now disappeared from the system tray!

I looked in IssueTracker and couldn't find a (recent) issue.
I tested on XP and it did not crash for me. Possibly because I installed without importing my existing user settings, so with a fresh user profile?

An older computer here is using version 3.3 (m69) w/o adverse effects, so far. Usually the previous XP Pro setup had minor problems with developer snapshot versions of OOo. But the old P-4 backup machine here had a clean install of the O/S recently, and all seems good .
