Dan
This is mostly a friendly reminder for my earlier email about the
Base chapter in the Getting Started Guide. I believe that the caution
and note I added about the position and size properties in the
Properties window (click the Control icon in the Form Control tool bar
to open it) need to be added to this chapter. Someone new to Base needs
to first learn how to use the Position and Size dialog first.
Position and Size dialog should be used for working with the
entire control while the Properties window should be used for only the
label or field but not both at the same time. For example, I selected a
control and changed the position (7cm from left, 4 cm from top) in the
Properties window. The top left corners of the control and field were
moved to 7cm from the left and 4cm from the top with the field placed
directly on top of the label. I selected several controls and moved them
horizontally (I thought). All of the controls were moved to the position
I had entered, but I then had all of them stacked on top of each other
in this order: label, field, label, field, label, field, etc. What a
mess! I used Control+Z to undo it, closed the Properties window, and
then used the Position and size dialog instead.
The changes I made are in the gs3 feedback folder and were made on
your latest review 16 Jan 2010.
