Hi Dan,

I have downloaded Chapter 2 of the Base Guide to accept or reject the changes made by Zoltan. He made many wonderful suggestions. He also suggested I add some text mentioning what the other chapters in the Base Guide will contain in the Introduction. When I looked at the Base outline, it appears that I may have combined chapters 2 and 3 in my zeal. I'm now thinking that what I have written could be split on page 32 with the OOOHeading 1: Create database. It would require writing a new Introduction paragraph. What it will do is complete two chapters at one time. I intend to spend some time this week reducing the size of chapter 1 by eliminating the detailed discussion of how to create a relational database which is covered extensively in both the "Getting Started with Base" and "Planning/Designing your Database" chapters. If I can get that done, we should have three chapters written for the Base Guide. JEAN: I want to make sure I have gotten this information correct. When a reference to Figure 1, Table 1, etc., is on the same page as the Figure 1, Table 1, etc.; we just enter Figure 1 or Table 1 in the text: we do not insert a cross-reference in the text. When the reference is on a different page, we insert a cross-reference in the text.
I inserted all for practicability reason. If you rearrange the pictures and tables within a document or cut and paste it into other the references remains correct and do not need check it very often. At least in early phase of document creation is useful, mostly when you decide to insert new picture/table into the middle of text, and you needs to recheck dozens of pictures.

And when we do insert a cross-reference, we insert the reference to "Category and Number". Correct?

Dan
