 Putting on my ranting hat ...

 Personally, I consider this list a technical mailing list. Personally,
 I think that your comments are way out of line for this list. Even if
 your comments are ';-)', they serve no real purpose.

 No matter which personal preference of OS, I believe that the autoconf
 automake libtool maintainers strive for maximum portability, even portability
 to "old" systems, or systems which are considered obsolete. The tools
 should work on any actual, running platform out there, ideally.

 If certain features of the software don't work as expected on a given
 platform, this can be worked around. If something like this happens, I
 very much don't presume ignorance in the developer's camp, but possibly just
 lack of information(*1). This can be rectified by exchange of information.
 (Yeah, right down to basics here.) The term is, "constructive criticism".

 Yadda yadda like "we will never have this SVR crap on our pure BSD systems"
 is not helpful (to abuse a famous quote, "we play both types here"; or
 something like that ...).

 *1 Use the System 7 man pages; I'd test everything for compliance with those.
