top_srcdir: Bug in cvs version -?

ALthough my test package is flat, since today (07-07-2000) ./configure 
inserts top_srcdir=.. in the Makefile, causing errors:
make: Fatal error: Don't know how to make target `../configure.in'

(top_srcdir should be ".")
