Just a note to say that when I configure on a 1024-processor SGI 3k Origin I get a strange error during the test for a GNU ld:
% ./configure --prefix=/u/kleb/local creating cache ./config.cache checking host system type... mips-sgi-irix6.5_nwokah_1218022002_SN1XXL checking target system type... mips-sgi-irix6.5_nwokah_1218022002_SN1XXL checking build system type... mips-sgi-irix6.5_nwokah_1218022002_SN1XXL checking for gcc... no checking for cc... cc checking whether the C compiler (cc ) works... yes checking whether the C compiler (cc ) is a cross-compiler... no checking whether we are using GNU C... no checking whether cc accepts -g... yes checking how to run the C preprocessor... cc -E checking whether the linker is GNU ld... cc ERROR: -- not allowed in non XPG4 environment cc ERROR parsing --print-prog-name=ld: unknown flag cc ERROR: no source or object file given no checking whether cc -E accepts -o... yes [..]
I'll forward more detailed information to anyone who wants to take a more detailed look...
[This is during a configure for installing Ruby, http://www.ruby-lang.org/.]
