Using m4 1.4 via autoconf 2.57. I have two macros. Adding "AC_PREREQ(the_first_macro)" inside the second macro causes m4 to puke what looks like ICBM coordinates:
configure.in:245: /usr/bin/m4: Bad expression in eval (bad input): 2 - # I6 35'85 450 19947 GNU 24, 0854 08585'9 45 65940 94 5254 085947 08595 # 05909 autom4te: /usr/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 1 The line number referred to in configure.in is the "call" to the second macro. Removing the AC_PREREQ removes the problem, but then opens up the possibility of all the ugly problems that AC_PREREQ was designed to solve. Can anyone translate this goop? Is m4 trying to call in an air strike on my office? Phil -- If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. - Samuel Adams
