AC_LIBTOOL_PROG_LD_SHLIBS sets hardcode_libdir_flag_spec, hardcode_libdir_flag_spec_ld and hardcode_libdir_separator. Currently this macro isn't designed to run outside AC_PROG_LIBTOOL and has some implicit dependencies on other macros in libtool.m4 that we haven't analysed yet. With a little cleanup it shouldn't be difficult to pull it out into a separate file, along with the macros it really needs, so that aclocal can do the right thing.
Patches greatfully accepted.
Cheers,
Gary.
