You can try to track down the problem, e.g., with "sh -x configure".
Here's the relevant lines:
expr "x$ac_package" : ".*[^-_$as_cr_alnum]" >/dev/null &&
{ echo "$as_me: error: invalid package name: $ac_package" >&2
and it could well be that "expr" is broken on your host.
