i complained when the change was made, but other devs feel it's the right thing to do Gentoo has patched it out too, although you can easily tweak the behavior in gcc to work with either behavior (which is what at least Gentoo & Ubuntu do rather than manually putting _FORTIFY_SOURCE into CPPFLAGS). -mike
