yes... I use it.... to do /Net/All_hosts  aka /n/All_hosts etc...

cd /Net ; ln -s /.autofs/RemoteHost_or_Dir1 .
cd /Net ; ln -s /.autofs/RemoteHost_or_Dir2 .
cd /Net ; ln -s / hostname

I use it for local and remote backups .... since local disk backup
does not help if the cpu/system goes nuts and destroys all local disks
