Direct mount

We are currently thinking about integrating linux on the desktop at
work. The only problem we have with autofs is its lack of support of
direct mounts. Is this feature going to be put into V4? 

(A few months ago there was some discussion of features for V4, but at
the time direct mount wasn't of interest to me (I'm not the sysadmin,
just an educated user). Its a shame there isn't a HTML'ised & searchable
archive of this mailing-list, or is there?)
