I have run across a strange problem with autofs. I am running version 3.1.3
(Redhat 6.0). Every couple of hours the automount daemon serving my home map
gets blocked (on io?) hanging all access to /home and to some users. It
eventually comes back (20 minutes). The blocked automount deamon is a child
process of the daemon handling the /home map. The following is a status
report from autofs.

Configured Mount Points:
/usr/sbin/automount /tools yp auto.tools
/usr/sbin/automount /home yp auto.home
/usr/sbin/automount /proj yp auto.proj
/usr/sbin/automount /misc yp auto.misc

Active Mount Points:
/usr/sbin/automount /tools yp auto.tools
/usr/sbin/automount /home yp auto.home
/usr/sbin/automount /proj yp auto.proj
/usr/sbin/automount /misc yp auto.misc

My auto.home map is as follows:

* -intr    maple:/data2/home/&

I think that the a new automount process is forked to handle the mount and
it is this process that is hanging. It is possible that the file server
maple is heavily loaded when the condition occurs. It lacks memory (I will
be upgrading this weekend). The logs do not show anything. I would
appreciate any help or insight that anyone could provide. Thanks,

-Tim
