Hi,

I am setting up a new file server for my university and I want to use autofs
for sharing my home directories. I read the howto
http://www.Linux-Consulting.com/Amd_AutoFS/autofs.html
but I am still under confusion.

I am successful in using autofs to mount cdrom etc.

I am using the debian potato distro, with nis

I have server1 and server2 containing the home directories and each
server having the file systems fs11,fs12 etc. The file systems in
server2 are fs21, fs22 ..

I want the users home directories to be available as /home/$USER
while his actual home directory would be in a filesystem fs21 or fs12.

My questions
1. What should be the entry in the /etc/passwd
2. How is nis map used for this purpose

This same servers would be used for providing home directories to NT/Win*
machines.

Could anyone give the sample scripts ?

Suresh
