Looks like something changed in 2.2 and 2.4 which makes autofs fail to
follow a symlink which has just been created by the daemon. It affects
both autofs 3 and autofs 4. I haven't looked into it in depth yet.
It isn't a big issue for 2.4 because mount --bind works much better
than a symlink, but it should be fixed for 2.2.
